*Milk & Bone*
Milk & Bone is a new project founded by Laurence Lafond-Beaulne and Camille Poliquin. Both studio and touring musicians, they met when Electronic-Pop band Misteur Valaire invited them to sing a lead duo on their most recent album Bellevue Avenue. Milk&Bone was officially named and born.
=> Laurence Lafond-Beaulne
Laurence started music like many children did, on the piano. She got accepted at Joseph-François-Perrault school, one of the most prestigious classical music programs in Quebec. She studied trombone for 5 years there, participating in solo contests, harmony and orchestra contests which lead her to win many awards.After high school she was accepted in the jazz interpretation program with trombone as a main instrument and finished a semester. Tired of playing the instrument and in need of a new challenge, she auditioned for the jazz singing program and got accepted. She completed the three year interpretation program with great success. During those three years, she perfected her skills in all spheres of music. She also started learning the electric bass.During her last year of Cégep,she played bass for singer-songwriters Peter Peter, Fanny Bloom and David Giguère as a bass player and vocalist. Meanwhile, she also got accepted at the Université de Montréal in the jazz singing interpretation program where they chose 4 students only. The shows were starting to interfere with her studies and she decided to stop her studies after a year to concentrate on her career. She toured and played many shows in Quebec, but also in France, Belgium,United Statesand Canadafor a year and a half. These were important experiences for Laurence and confirmed she wanted to be a musician..Laurence sang on the #1 radio hit for 8 weeks on Quebec’s radio stations «L’amour» from Karim Ouellet. She also sang on Oothèque's album, Francis Mineau's solo project (Malajube) and on Mark Bérubé's most recent album
Camille started her professional carreer at the youg age of 10 years old after performingan audition for Cirque du Soleil's "Quidam". The production team wanted to send her directly on the Japanese tour. Unfortunately, being only 10 years old at the time, her parents wanted her to finish elementary school first. Consequently, as soon as she finished 6th grade, Poliquin embarked as a singer on the Quidam Asia-Pacific tour including cities such as Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Long Beach, San Diego and finishing in Ottawa. Her hometown of Saint-Lambert even congratulated her with the Lambertois Of the Year award.She then came back to Montreal she studied jazz piano, songwriting techniques, writing for Big Bands, jazz arrangement and jazz vocals as her main instrument at St-Laurent Cegep. During her first year at Saint-Laurent, Poliquin created a vocal quartet with the help of three other jazz singers from the program. Later named Les Gourmandes, the band went on to win the National Finals of Cégeps en Spectaclein 2010, getting the chance to perform at Le Studio-Théâtre de la Place-des-Artsin Montréal with a sold out show. In that same year, Poliquin met singer-songwriterand actor David Giguère. From that moment on she's been singing by his side at every show and was very involved in the album production process, singing on most songs. Ever since the release of the album, the band has toured across the province of Quebec, playing at major festivals such as Festival d'Été de Québecand Francofolies de Montréal and they even got to perform on a small tour in Brazil. They opened for Ariane Moffatton most of the Quebec dates for the MAtour2012-2013. Poliquin recorded vocals for advertisement and for studio albums with artists such as Jason Bajada, Sébastien Lacombe and Misteur Valaire
